The condensate from boilers, furnaces and water heaters drains into sewer systems and septic tanks before making its way to water processing facilities. As a result, it’s crucial you take steps to balance the pH level accordingly. Although many facilities use PVC piping and connectors to prevent erosion, there’s no guarantee there aren’t metallic pipes further down the line.
If the condensate your facility produces is anywhere between 1.8 and 4.2, it’s incredibly acidic and therefore more likely to cause extensive damage. Over time, this can lead to major repairs and days or even weeks of lost productivity. What’s more, highly acidic concentrate can kill off “good” bacteria that reside in your septic tank or sewer system. Over time, this change in bacteria affects the function of the system, which can lead to even further damage. These are credible threats for any operation, no matter the size, but they’re also easily preventable.
Enter the neutralizing condensate pump. A neutralizing condensate pump is a small, motor-powered device that’s filled with chemicals to balance the pH levels of your facility’s condensate. There are dozens of different neutralizing condensate pumps on the market, but here at Neutra-Safe®, we use a proprietary blend that’s environmentally friendly, organic and inert. That means there’s no special disposal required. Simply remove the media sack and throw it in the trash.
We offer two different types of neutralizing condensate pumps:
1.) Neutra-Safe® NSP-50. The NSP-50 is ideal for boilers, furnaces and water heaters that have an appliance input of 500,000 British thermal units per hour or less. Each pump has a pre-loaded sack of our proprietary media blend in the serpentine neutralization chamber. The top of the pump features a see-through lid so you can easily monitor the media mix and replace it as necessary. Each pump contains a standard VCMA20 pump, ensuring continued efficiency.
2.) Neutra-Safe® NSP-600. The NSP-600 is ideal for boilers, furnaces and water heaters that have an appliance input of 6,000,000 Btu per hour or less. Each NSP-600 contains a SHURFLO® 12VDC diaphragm pump, capable of pumping 60 gallons per hour at 100 feet of head. Like the NSP-50, each pump contains a pre-loaded sack of our proprietary media blend. The pump also features a clear observation chamber, allowing you to monitor and replace the media mix as needed.
